Italian Renaissance painter Raphaello Sanzio da Urbino has officially announced his long awaited return via an unexpected collaboration with @nike! The new AF1 design features a color palette and iconography inspired by one of Raphael’s most famous works, The School of Athens (slide 11); the painting depicts a gathering of ancient philosophers, including Plato and Aristotle—who are featured on the shoes as collectible hang tags.

With their intricate gold embroidery and 3D elements along the gums that allude to Raphael’s original fresco, these shoes are truly one of a kind.
