Exhibition Statement

Inspired by Walter McEwen’s painting, “A Girl Looking in a Mirror,” I did this piece as an ode to those unassuming, yet painfully vulnerable moments shared between ourselves and our reflections, and the mental battles that accompany them. I used a variety of materials to simulate the interactions between these opposing ‘worlds’ (reality v. reflected reality). I also chose a perspective that turns the viewer into an unwilling voyeur, watching in discomfort as this private moment unfolds.
